Bayer Leverkusen have accepted that Kai Havertz has chosen to join Chelsea but the Bundesliga outfit want to delay the transfer until the end of August.
Leverkusen will grant Havertz his wish of a move to the Premier League and are open to selling the midfielder, but they are demanding a £89.8m transfer fee.
The 21-year-old has told Bayer Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz that he does not want to wait any longer before taking the next step in his career.
German publication Bild have reported that the German side will accept the fee in instalments but they want to keep Havertz for another six-and-a-half weeks
That’s because they are still in competing in the Europa League and letting their star man leave would significantly weaken their chances.
And according to Kicker, Leverkusen have apparently struck an agreement with Havertz which will allow him to leave despite having two years left on his contract.
