SDA leader prays for peace for Malawi

Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) World Leader has said Malawi needs a pray for continued peace and prosperity.

SDA Global Leader, Elder Ted Wilson made the remarks Friday after visiting Lilongwe City Council Civic Offices where he signed a visitors book at the start of his four day visit to Malawi  .

He said it was imperative that Malawi should remain peaceful and that the word of God should continued being spread among its citizens.

Wilson commended Lilongwe City Council for being a close partner with SDA Church in a number of service providing sectors.

“We are providing educational, health services to the resident of the city. We are hoping that the Church will continue to expand its services the residents,” the Global leader said.

He believes that SDA Church members in Lilongwe would continue walking through the footsteps of Christ through their deeds in enhancing the growth of the Church.   

“Am greatly privileged to be at the Council and that I had a private audience with the Malawi leader, President Prof. Peter Mutharika early in the afternoon at Kamuzu Palace,” Wilson told the audience. 

He said globally SDA Church had a membership of 23 million Christians and Malawi has over 600,000 baptized members.

Lilongwe City Council Mayor, Julian Kaduya said Lilongwe City has been honoured to host SDA Global leader and his delegation.

She said the Council hoped that the social partnership the Church has with the Council would be expanded.

“We hoping the Church will continue offering spiritual services in the City in order to help the youth from refrain from alcohol and drug abuse. We will be looking forward for your guidance and advice,” Kaduya pointed out.  

Lilongwe City Council now has a population of 1 million residents from just 100,000 in 1975.

Elder Wilson will attend a big Sabbath at Bingu National Stadium in Area 48, Lilongwe from 8 am.
