Forward for Christ Crusade is set to conduct a health expo on the 30th of August, 2020, at Mvera in Dowa district to educate locals on healthful living.
FCC is a ministry within the Seventh-day Adventist church with the sole objective of fulfilling the great commission of Jesus Christ on Matthew 28:18-20 through preaching the gospel and making disciples in the context of the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14:6-12.
Speaking in an interview on Friday, FCC coordinator for the central region, Wackson Gondwe, said the organisation will teach general principles of healthful living that are simple to understand, easy to apply, cheap to the user, and calculated to result in good health.
He said: “We are doing this program to copy the method of Christ of reaching out to people through the healing ministry. The purpose of the gospel is restoration. It is to restore man in the image of God that was lost through sin.”
“It is restoration of the health of people. Restoration of the family. The uplifting of our communities to a better life, the abundant life which Jesus spoke about in John 10:10,” he added.
According to Gondwe activities on the day will include diabetes, blood pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI) and malaria check-ups and testing.
He further said that depending on test results, they will provide counseling for each respective case about a better way of living.
The expo, as it is usually the case with FCC expos, will be free of charge and the second this year.
Former central region FCC coordinator, John Mhone, said expos which FCC has conducted previously have brought many opportunities for themselves as evangelists and for participants.
He said: “The people often discover that God offers most if not all solutions.”
“With the preventive approach to disease that we usually use, even covid-19 will become preventable and manageable to many people,” he added.
Emma Segula, organizing committee member said the committee is currently finalizing preparations.
“So far 18 members have confirmed to patronize the event and resource mobilization is underway. So, we are ready to make this expo a success,” she said.
