Speaker of Parliament says the house has started working on conforming with the directives of the Constitutional Court

 Speaker of parliament Catherine Gotani Hara says the house has started working on conforming with the directives of the Constitutional Court within the stipulated 21 days.

 She spoke Thursday during a media briefing held at parliament building in Lilongwe.

 The court when delivering its ruling on the presidential election case,said  parliament must come up with necessary legislation to make the 50 plus one electoral system work and inquire about the competence of the Malawi Electoral Commission among other issues.

In a related development the High Court in Blantyre will on March 4, 2020 start hearing the case in which a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) parliamentary aspirant for Mangochi Monkey Bay, Gerald Kazembe, is contesting the victory of Minister of Transport and Public Works, Ralph Jooma, of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
