Residents and market users at Dowa boma are protesting a decision by district hospital authorities’ to turn Dowa boma lodge into a quarantine centre for health workers treating COVID-19 patients.
Dowa market committee chairperson, Isaac Tembo said they will not accept the move arguing that the decision is tantamount to putting life of market users at risk.
According to media reports,he alleged that the officials embezzled COVID-19 funds hence the decision to turn the lodge into a quarantine centre.
Dowa District Hospital spokesperson Davie Nuka says the market users should not worry as all COVID-19 preventive measures will be adhered to.
“I don’t think that’s good idea why putting quarantine to busy place like that, its better to find quite place so that they do risky peoples life” said one of the concerned citizen in the district Joseph Bobo.
Bobo Quarantine needs quiet places not busy place like that and it is a wrong idea they must close as soon as possible.
