Malians among migrants rescued from English Channel

About 80 migrants, including children, have been rescued from the English Channel – a record figure for a single day. 

The UK Home Office said on Thursday they included people from Syria, Yemen and Mali.

Temperatures at the time were as low as 2C, and the migrants are being treated by emergency services at the port of Dover, the UK Guardian reports

Ten people who made it across the body of water to Kent in the UK have been detained.
