Chiradzulu District Council on Friday re-elected Councilor, Bruno Mwase as council chair and Councilor, Philesi Mazinga as vice chair during a full council meeting.
Accepting his position, Mwase said he would ensure good working relationship among ward councilors, members of parliament, council secretariat and all sectors to attain meaningful development in the district.
“The 2019/20 year was a learning year and I was new in the office when I was learning how the council operates,” Mwase said, adding that his re-election would enhance his knowledge on council affairs.
“The experience I gained will help me facilitate sector coordination and I promise that I will deliver and not disappoint anyone,” he assured.
He commended fellow ward councilors and parliamentarians for trusting him for the second time in office as chairperson of the council.
Mwase also thanked the District Commissioner for providing guidance in chairing full councils and also commended the outgoing vice chair for good working relationship in their first term.
Mazinga who has been elected vice council chair and is the only female councilor in the council promised to work together with the council chair to enhance coordination which she said is key to development of the district.
Speaking when delivering a congratulatory message the District Commissioner, Reignhard Chavura urged the council chair and his vice to work together to satisfy people’s aspirations in Chiradzulu.
Mwase had no competitor as councilors did not show their interest to contest for the position of the council chair.
